The primary role of the Specialist, Email Marketing is to develop, manage and provide insight to the email marketing program and digital marketing team. As the subject matter expert, the Specialist, Email Marketing will be responsible for the continuously improving new email marketing campaigns, optimization of existing campaigns, campaign analysis and report creation. The ideal candidate will have a strategic, analytical, collaborative mindset and is able to manage projects under the general guidance of the Sr Email Marketing Manager.


  • Partner with cross-functional team leaders in creating high level, email marketing programs that supports multi-touch communication programs for patients.
  • Assist in managing automated marketing tool (Marketing Cloud) by launching new programs, maintaining existing triggered emails and troubleshooting issues related to this program; serving as an administrator of the marketing automation tool.
  • Build automated email campaigns, database selection, HTML presentation and quality assurance of all outbound campaigns; Build content areas for dynamically-populated content emails, landing pages, AMPScript and SQL queries.
  • Performs day-to-day marketing activities including, but not limited to, email campaign set-up, push notifications/SMS, scheduling, testing, tagging and deployment of one-time, recurring, triggered and dynamic content-driven campaigns.
  • Ensure integrity of the brand through the support of brand marketing campaigns.
  • Managing marketing automation, segmentation and workflows; updating and managing mailing and subscriber lists as well as ensuring compliancy with CANSPAM requirements.
  • Develop insights through analysis of performance - conversion rates, bounce rates, open rates, click rates, day, time and other qualifiers.
  • Test & optimization marketing journeys and analytics; proactively identify opportunities and helping the teams understand opportunities and implications.
  • Analyze trends and implement industry best practices to create effective content and work with graphic designers to create templates that drive higher results.
  • Knowledgeable with Salesforce integration specific to email communications using segmentation and creating 1-to-1 individually triggered communications.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to identify gaps and subsequently develop new approaches, strategies and/or tools that can be implemented to support the business growth objectives.
  • Stay up to date on the newest trends and technologies for our industry; follow relevant marketing trends and integrate best practices.


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in Marketing, Communications, or related field. In lieu of degree
  • 3-5+ years of experience is required or the equivalent combination of education andexperience.
  • 3+ years relevant work experience in enterprise digital marketing for a multiple nationwide locations business.
  • Expert knowledge of Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including coding in AMP script, Contact & Content Builder, Journey Builder, Ads Studio and Mobile Connect. Similar tools will be considered (Responsys, Acton, Marketo).
  • Expert knowledge in HTML/CSS email coding & design of Responsive Emails
  • Strong knowledge of email best practices and CAN-SPAM Act.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel for reporting purposes, pivot tables, conditional formatting and formulas such as VLOOKUP will be used regularly.
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com and SQL queries


  • Master’s Degree in marketing/communications or related field.
  • Experience with SMS processes, spam laws and regulations.
  • Experience working in an agency setting.
  • Familiarity with Journey Builder, Audience Builder and API’s are a plus.
  • Experience in a multi-regional healthcare, retail, or dental company.
